The Jonesy tattoo machine can be used for outlining, shading and coloring. It is an excellent all-around machine for both fast and slow speeds, but it was originally designed to be used at slow speeds with a short stroke. The shape of the frame is the same for outlining or shading, the gap is the determining factor for either outliner or shader.
